Recommendations from Professionals
" MM is lucky to have you so involved in her care. In fact you are the best thing to happen to the M sisters in many years."
- Dr Charles Jarowski
" As a music therapist, I have had the pleasure of collaborating with a superb geriatric care manager, Irene Zelterman. She recommended that I see one of her clients who has Alzheimer's and is very frail. I was able to see first hand the results of her hands-on professionalism, long range vision of the best needs for the client and, most especially, her caring. Irene is a gem. You would want her to be the geriatric care manager for your parents, if needed."
- Janet Sullivan, Licensed Creative Arts Therapist, Licensed Psychoanalyst
" I suggest you speak to Irene Zelterman, founder of Hearthside Care Coordinators. Aside from her stellar credentials, I have never hesitated to recommend Irene. She best describes what she does as rent a daughter."
- Jeanne Anne Norton, Esq.

Clients Express Their Appreciation
"My mom is very happy with the aide and the physical therapist you found for her. It seems she was feeling housebound and lonely. The aide has definitely enlivened her life. My mom can now visit her sister as well as gets out when she wants. The physical therapy is quite gentle which she appreciates. Much thanks for the two great choices."
- Mike Smith Ph.D., Son
"I am very grateful for the help you have given my mother and myself during my sisters absence and while I was attending to my own issues. You were engaged and responsive throughout. I thank you from the bottom of my heart."
- Nancy F, Daughter
"I just wanted to thank you for recommending Irene Zelterman to my brother and I. Although I haven't met her yet in person, she is so warm, caring and clearly knowledgeable about issues of elder care that I already feel I have an ally to help my dad cope with being just about 90 years old."
- Susan, Daughter
" I want to thank you for sharing your elder care expertise; advice and compassion in helping me to care for my parents. You have been there through thick and thin with wisdom and practical advice, as well as sympathetic ear when I really needed it, and you have always tried to work with me within the context of my idiosyncratic (okay, difficult and impossible!) parents."
- Fran Tannenbaum Kaye, Daughter
" You helped me realize the goals I had for my aunts care. In other words, you put into effect what I wanted done for her. The clause in our contract that gave you a way out if ethical standards werent met gave me confidence in you. I can say that you made it possible for my aunts last years to be comfortable. I got to the point where I could rely on your judgment, especially when I lacked the experience to know what to do. When all is said and done, I believe I was able because of you to give my aunt what she wanted the daily care and attention of someone like Denise (home health aide). I think it made all the difference."
- Gloria Cohen, Niece
" Thanks so much for your attentive and incisive report. Ill keep you posted as we move along this rocky path. Your professionalism and empathy make my work so much easier. I knew you would be the perfect person for the job!"
- Florence Diamond, Daughter
" Thank you for the wonderful and comprehensive note. I really appreciate it. And I feel like you totally understand the predicament we are in -- living so far away and managing the complications of aging with all the different personalities and issues in my family. I dont know what we would do without you."
- Leslie Hoyt LCSW, Niece
" I offer this testimonial from two perspectives: that of a loving daughter and an aging services professional. Some background: My mom, who had been in excellent health, needed 24 hour care as her Alzheimers disease progressed. She was a fiercely independent woman and was determined to remain in her apartment her home for 60 years. I wanted to honor her wishes for as long as possible. The challenges were geographic distance, family responsibilities and full-time employment. I decided to give myself the same professional advice that I would have offered to anyone else in the same situation: find a professional geriatric case manager. Irene found wonderful in-home staff to care for my mother. By wonderful, I mean capable, compassionate, intelligent, reliable and hard working. Irene also arranged for doctors visits, transportation to the senior center, an electrician, carpet cleaning and similar kinds of services. She had a wealth of local (Brooklyn, NY) resources to draw on. Irene provided my husband and I with knowledgeable and objective advice, clear and thorough explanations, and a shoulder to cry on. All suggestions about Moms care were made with thoughtful consideration of her needs and preferences. Irene viewed Mom as a whole person, trying to build upon and preserve her strengths. When we needed her, she was available by phone and e-mail. Irene herself is a woman possessed of professional skills, empathy, and practical know-how, leavened with a terrific sense of humor. Irene and her staff made my mothers remaining years as good as they could possibly be for which I will always be grateful."
- Roberta Downey, Daughter
" I contacted Irene Zelterman when my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimers and I was confused and overwhelmed by all the different issues to be addressed. Irene helped me identify and prioritize my mother's needs and put the essential pieces into place to keep my mother comfortable and in her home. Because I live five hours away from my mother, it was especially invaluable to be able to call Irene and count on her in any emergency situation."
- Isabel R., Daughter
" I live across the country and am an only child whose mother has Alzheimer's Disease. I want desperately to keep my parents in their home, because they are Holocaust survivors, and I feel that putting Mom in a home would destroy any life that she and Dad have left. To make things extra complicated, Dad is 95 and thinks he can do and control everything, but actually he's quite senile. Hearthside Care found me several wonderful people (home health aides), first before Mom was approved for Medicaid, and then when she was approved for 24-hour care. They took care of all the screening and interviewing, except for my final approval. Because I wanted to go with the consumer-directed option to provide consistency in aides, Irene and Jennifer worked with the Chinese American Council to make sure that our aide selections were accepted. Hearthside acts as the interface to Medicaid, which is the most exasperating agency to deal with. Jennifer also helped me to recover the money we spent on home care prior to Medicaid approval."
- Susan Abraham, Daughter
" Thank you so much for all the assistance and advice with regard to the case of my aunt. I have the greatest regards and respect for both you and Jennifer. Your professionalism, care and concern will never be forgotten. I thank you once again on behalf of my aunt and myself."
